1. The first logo wasn't the ₿
When Bitcoin was launched in 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto used a simple symbol: BC written on a gold coin. The famous "B" with two vertical lines didn't exist yet.
2. The creation of the ₿
In February 2010, Satoshi presented a new version with the B crossed by two vertical lines, inspired by monetary symbols like $ and ¥.
The idea was to immediately convey that Bitcoin was a form of global money.
3. The current logo wasn't created by Satoshi
The symbol we know today — the ₿ tilted to the right inside an orange circle — was created by a community user known as bitboy in November 2010.
The main changes were:
A tilt of approximately 14° to the right.
Orange background.
Simpler and more modern design.
Similar appearance to recognized global brands.
The community liked it so much that the logo ended up being informally adopted throughout the Bitcoin ecosystem.
