India wrapped up a highly successful campaign at the BOXAM Elite International 2026, finishing as the tournament’s most successful nation with nine gold, three silver and seven bronze medals. Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain and former Youth World Champion Arundhati Choudhary spearheaded India’s dominant showing on the final day.
India’s women boxers set the benchmark, reaching seven Elite finals on Saturday — including an all-Indian title clash in the 54kg category — and winning gold in all seven bouts, according to an official release. The tournament, held in La Nucia, featured over 200 boxers from 20 nations, offering a strong international test early in the season.
Manju Rani (48kg) and Nitu (51kg) began the gold rush with unanimous victories over Spain’s Marta Lopez and Noelia Gutierrez, respectively. Poonam (54kg) edged compatriot Preeti in a closely contested all-Indian final, while Priya (60kg) and Arundhati (70kg) secured commanding 5:0 wins against Ukrainian opponents. Lovlina (75kg) showcased her experience and composure to defeat England’s Mary-Kate Smith 4:1, and Naina (80kg) completed the sweep with a controlled win over Ukraine’s Raisa Piskun.
In the men’s finals, Sachin (60kg) clinched gold in one of the day’s most thrilling bouts, edging Canada’s Keoma-Ali Al Ahmadieh 3:2, while Akash (75kg) added another title with a narrow 3:2 victory over Kazakhstan’s Aman Konsbekov. Deepak (70kg) and Ankush (80kg) settled for silver medals after tough finals against opponents from Kazakhstan and Ukraine, respectively.
BFI President Ajay Singh said the tournament provided ideal preparation ahead of a demanding season. “The conversion rate in the finals reflects the progress of our programme. BOXAM Elite offered exactly the exposure we were seeking at this stage,” he said.
Indian women’s head coach Santiago Nieva praised the team’s discipline and collective environment, noting that winning all seven finals “speaks volumes about the work being done across the system.”
India’s strong performance in Spain adds momentum as the national programme builds toward a packed international calendar, with major championships and multi-sport events on the horizon.
