I’ve been sharing content online for the past 3 years.
But I recently ran into a major issue...
All of my content is scattered everywhere.
Finding a relevant piece of content from 2 years ago was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
So I wanted one beautiful homepage that pulled everything together.
There was just one problem with this...
I’m a backend/AI engineer.
And I absolutely do NOT have frontend design taste.
While I could use Claude Code to generate a website...
This won't solve my lack of taste in frontend design.
@MadalinaBita (my designer and fiancé), on the other hand, has incredible taste in design but almost no engineering background.
So we settled on drag-and-drop tools like Squarespace to get something built quickly.
The issue?
Eventually, you hit a ceiling, and everything starts looking generic and slightly outdated.
That's when we stumbled on
bolt.new...
As an experiment, we both built our own versions of the homepage.
I basically:
1. Dumped in my branding
2. Shared screenshots of my old site
3. Linked the existing homepage
4. Asked Bolt to generate a migration plan
Then it just... started building.
Meanwhile, Madalina kept iterating conversationally:
Fixing spacing
Adjusting shadows
Improving visual consistency
Refining alignment
Improving collaborator sections
Without writing code.
Hers was far more user-friendly than mine... see for yourself:
My rebuild:
pauliusztin-ai-homep-e1of.bo…
Madalina’s version:
website-design-upgra-5b34.bo…
This made me realize that taste is becoming more valuable than implementation skills for many frontend workflows.
What surprised me most is that this goes beyond websites...
I also tested
bolt.new for interactive AI visualizations and knowledge graph UIs.
In minutes, it generated animated graph-style visualizations from my LinkedIn content using my branding colors and clustered topic relationships.
Here’s my takeaway:
There’s AI-generated code...
And then there’s code that ships.
bolt.new feels much closer to the second category.
Designers can now build interactive production experiences without engineering bottlenecks.
