Waterloo Region had an extraordinarily warm welcome for refugees five years ago as part of Operation Syrian Refugee! More than 1,800 refugees came to our region, and since then they have contributed to building community!

Five years ago today, the first of what would be 99 flights headed for Canada with Syrian refugees on board. Canadians from coast to coast to coast welcomed more than 44,000 Syrian refugees as part of Operation Syrian Refugee.
