Today marks the start of CF (Cystic Fibrosis) Awareness Month 💜
“Beat all the odds.”
Because that’s exactly what this is.
There was a time when people with cystic fibrosis weren’t expected to make it this far. Just 40 years ago, many didn’t even survive childhood — let alone reach adulthood.
I’ve lost friends — strong, beautiful souls — who never made it to 20, 25 or 30. Some didn't even make it to middle school. And that reality stays with you.
So standing here today, at 41, after everything I’ve been through — physically and mentally — feels almost unreal.
Every year is a gift. A reminder of how far science and medicine have come.
Because today, we have something we once didn’t: a future.
We can fall in love.
We can get married.
Some of us can even start families.
We can look ahead.
And still — it’s a daily fight.
Still uncertainty.
Still not knowing how far we’ll go.
But today, I choose pride.
Proud of my fellow CF warriors.
Proud of myself.
And grateful for everyone who stands beside me — and carries me when I can’t carry myself.
We weren’t supposed to make it this far.
But we did.
