After a short public beta, Valve has rolled out the new Animgraph 2 animation system to the main branch of Counter-Strike 2, bringing a major overhaul to how character and weapon animations look and feel. Animgraph 2 aims to make animations clearer and more responsive while reducing the CPU load required to process them, boasting smoother movement on slopes, more readable character models, and a noticeable reduction in peeker’s advantage. Additionally, by reducing CPU workload, this update offers significant performance boosts, with some players reporting around 15% more FPS after the patch.
Alongside the update are several new third-person animations, such as unique knife pullout sequences for specific knives, and tweaks to weapon deploy animations, allowing both to be seen by other players. This patch also includes fixes for ladder movement exploits, grenade scaling issues, and a halftime crash. Overall, Animgraph 2 brings CS2 visually and mechanically closer to the feel of CSGO while improving performance and animation clarity across the board.
