Morning! If any of you are in the market for a phone case, then avoid (like the plague) a company called "Cardbus". Customer service is hyped on the website, but doesn't actually exist.

PCMCIAが１６ビット規格に対してCardBusは３２ビット規格なのでスピードが速くなってます

長年AbletonLive9にて現場叩き用に活躍して退いた後は自宅で音声編集用としてこれまた長年活躍してくれていたMacBookPro。いよいよ引退をとデータ抜き出し作業をば。バッテリーは既にお亡くなりになっているけれどもトランス式電源で稼働。CardBusからRMEへ接続していた。お疲れ様(*´ω｀*)

2. @i2cjak makes a cardbus for framework so we can talk directly to PCIe so we all can enjoy super old cards a laptop again. Never any need to trow away old stuff with Framwork

Yo @FrameworkPuter - do you by any chance got a CARDBUS adapter so I can use my Spectrum Expert cards without any adapter like I do on this HP EliteBook 8460P that, yes, runs Windows 11 😆

they are probably pre cardbus cards like old 8 bit cards.. they were always problematic. win 95 didn't even support most of them.

「枯れて」いたはずのAT ISAでもその有様だったので、バスを持たないノートPCへのSCSI増設は更にハードルが高くて、形状は同じでもPCMCIAとCARDBUSって何が違ったんだっけ。CARDBUSにもバージョンがあったような。もう忘れた、思い出したくもない😓

Chandra2のIDEがPIO mode4程度の速度なので、CardBUS SDアダプタを使えば32bit PCI相当で高速ストレージが実現するのでは？の皮算用に失敗した図。
ちゃんとPCIバスにぶら下がっているのに内蔵IDEプラスアルファ程度の速度…(X30では2倍以上で高速動作)

PCMCIAはPCIカードとは呼ばないし、第一そのSCSIカードはCardBusでもないので中身的にも16bit ISAなので間違いようはないはずなんだが。

98を復活しないと使えない。
メディアの方は、2000年頃のTV番組の録画等。フリマに出すなら、中身を消去しないと🤫

센스500 살리기 페이즈3-2: PC 카드 구동확인
알리 등지에서 판매되는 CF Card to PCMCIA Adapter는 16비트 PC 카드 규격의 제품이기 때문에, 32비트 CardBus 규격을 지원하지 않는 초구형 장비에서도 사용이 가능하다.
이 물건으로 시험해 봤더니 소켓 1과 2 모두 정상 작동을 확인.

센스500 살리기 페이즈3-1: PC 카드 테스트
오늘날 이 모델에서 인터넷 연결을 하려면 RJ45를 받는 PCMCIA 규격의 랜카드가 필요하다.
그래서 간단하게 테스트 겸 천원짜리 랜카드를 사서 연결을 해봤는데 인식이 안되더라… 알고 보니 브릿지가 16비트 전용이라 32비트 카드버스가 안 통하는듯.

The lot of cards I got today were a mix of Xircom RealPort Ethernet 10/100 and Combo 56K 10/100 cards. Here's a combo one. I also got a few CardBus cards in the mix, we won't do anything with those today. Notice the gold band at the top, that's a dead giveaway of CardBus.
