📣 To every Black person who follows Stephen A. Smith & watches him shut down Black voices while being mute on white ones… we need to talk.
Steph, you ride in hard when a Black athlete, Black activist, or Black politician speaks truth—especially when you see them defending our own. You slam extra loud when it’s someone like Bakari Sellers or Jasmine Crockett standing up. But when it’s a white man—especially someone like Donald Trump—you don’t even bring your “energy.”
What have you done with that platform for Black communities over the last 20 years, besides yelling for ratings? What concrete moves, what investments, what legacies? Because the same people you criticize helped build your career, bought your shows, bought your takes.
Ask yourself:
How many times did you stay quiet when the pain wasn’t convenient?
How many times did you pick the white narrative because it pays better?
How many times did you forget the people who built the stage you stand on?
Blackness isn’t your punching bag for clicks.
Community isn’t your prop for exposure.
Check your history before you criticize ours.
Your voice might be loud—but it doesn’t inspire.
It sells out.
We’re done cheering from the sidelines for someone who won’t stand up for us when it matters.
