Fake news on Nationwide Lockdown 🇵🇭⚡
🚫 NO “ENERGY LOCKDOWN”, HERE IS THE REALITY
Let’s set the record straight: There is NO planned nationwide energy lockdown.
Malacañang has officially debunked the viral advisory as fake news and is tracking the source of the misinformation.
Why a “lockdown” isn’t even legally possible overnight:
It Requires a Law. A full-scale lockdown affecting movement and businesses needs Congressional authorization.
Constitutional Limits Under Article VI, Section 23(2) of the Constitution, the President needs a specific law from Congress to exercise broad emergency powers, just like the Bayanihan Act during the pandemic.
Mandate Matters The Department of Energy (DOE) manages fuel supply and energy security, not your right to leave your house.
What is actually being done?
The government is focused on Energy Security, not restrictions. Under Executive Order No. 110, this includes:
✔️ Securing stable fuel sources
✔️ Monitoring power plant operations and fuel stocks to prevent outages
✔️ Prioritizing electricity for hospitals and critical infrastructure.
The Bottom Line:
⚠️ Global energy markets are volatile, but…
❌ There is no “lockdown” coming
⚖️ The law protects us from arbitrary restrictions
Stop the panic. Check the source. Think before you share.
