At Strategies for Northern Development (SND), we believe that protecting children requires strong collaboration, continuous learning, and investment in community-based systems that support children to heal, grow, and thrive even in fragile contexts.
Through the Ethiopia Joint Response (EJR) programme, SND was proud to participate in the recent “My Friend Selam” Training of Trainers (ToT) and TeamUp refresher and facilitator training sessions held in Moyale, in partnership with
@tdhnl_africa,
@RegionalANPPCAN, and
#HelpAChild.
These evidence-based psychosocial interventions are critical in contexts affected by drought, displacement, and conflict, where children often face prolonged stress and disruption to their normal development.
Through these trainings:
- Facilitators strengthened their capacity to support children in recognizing emotions and building resilience
- Movement-based TeamUp sessions continue helping children restore confidence, cooperation, and social connection through structured play
- Government stakeholders and social workers enhanced their ability to provide child-centred psychosocial support aligned with international protection standards
These efforts build upon ongoing EJR interventions in Dubluk, where Child-Friendly Spaces, community protection structures, and psychosocial support initiatives are helping create safer environments for vulnerable children.
By strengthening the capacity of frontline workers and institutions, we are ensuring that child protection services remain locally anchored, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of children affected by crisis.
We appreciate the continued partnership with Terre des Hommes Netherlands, ANPPCAN, and Help a Child in advancing child protection and psychosocial wellbeing for children across Ethiopia.
Together, we continue working towards a future where every child feels safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
