Today’s #churchproject visit was St Nicholas’ in Newnham. (A v. pretty village.) It’s partly 12th century with an impressive chancel arch and the remains of medieval paint. There were two ladies in there polishing things and doing the flowers as @claudius_me and I looked round.

Quick visit to St Leonard’s, Cliddesden for the #churchproject with @claudius_me - basically Victorian but there’s a tiny bit of Norman door I forgot to photograph. It was v charming with LOADS of information 10/10 for leaflets/signs etc.

Two #churchproject adventures today with @claudius_me - the second was St Stephen’s at Up Nateley which is one of the lightest and airiest churches I’ve ever been in. Dates in part from c1200, the bell tower is 19th century.

More #churchproject with @claudius_me - today we looked at St Swithun’s in Nateley Scures. It’s Norman and one of only 4 apsidal churches in the UK. That’s the curved wall bit. Delightful. Plus you can go up in the gallery.

Went out with @claudius_me and did a bit of the #churchproject at Hartley Wespall. St Mary the Virgin. 14th century. Lovely. Also used the Merlin bird app - chiffchaff, wren, reed bunting - plus we saw five red kites just hanging out.

First #churchproject trip for some time. @claudius_me and I went to All Saints #MonkSherborne, where #JaneAusten’s brother George (1766-1838) is buried in an unmarked grave. He was disabled and lived with a family in the village. The church looks great - but sadly it was locked.

Went to North Farringdon with @claudius_me - it’s near Chawton (where we also went) so too far out for the #churchproject but we visited the church anyway. All Saints. It was delightful.
