Approximately 33,000 Tanzanians lose their lives each year due to respiratory diseases, largely driven by exposure to smoke from the use of unsafe cooking energy. This statement was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Felchesmi Mramba, today, Friday September 12, 2025, during the Clean Cooking Energy Summit 2025, organised by Mwananchi Communications Ltd in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy. Mramba emphasised the urgent need to continue public education and to strengthen efforts to transition communities from unsafe cooking fuels to clean energy alternatives.
