On Thursday 5th February 2026, @MEMD_Uganda in partnership with @UgEquityBank, hosted a stakeholder information session to officially introduce the @UKMECS Trust Fund, a catalytic financing facility to scale modern electric cooking solutions in #Uganda. The @UKMECS Trust Fund totals GBP 550,000, offering eligible enterprises financing from UGX 30 million at 14% interest, one of the most competitive rates on the market. This is about unlocking access to affordable capital. The Trust Fund is financed by the @UKaid through @FCDOGovUK and implemented by @UgEquityBank, in partnership with @MEMD_Uganda. Access to working capital remains one of the biggest barriers in the clean cooking value chain. The Trust Fund provides short-term and bridge financing to support the importation and distribution of electric cooking appliances across Uganda. The Trust Fund is designed to empower e-cooking enterprises to scale faster, reach more households and accelerate Uganda’s transition to modern, safe and clean cooking solutions.
