“A masterclass in incompetence …”. Oui? Sérieux?
The French, irrefutably have gifted us some good things.
Besides the Statue of Liberty readily coming to mind, I’ve also thought of another - while this post of yesterday aged a little in my mind-cellar (as even an average French wine should).
The ‘another’ is a gift from 19th century French psychiatry:
“Delusions of grandeur” - a delusional disorder gifted not long after the Statue, right into our own now-coded APA “Delusional Disorders” (F22). But I digress …
When I read the Senator’s lofty geopolitical judgment, “a masterclass in incompetence,” I queried PDQ … from what possible delusional heights of grandeur would a Senator lob such an oratorical certainty?
Just as quick from the ether (my own facetious heights) came the reply: PRESIDENT MURPHY, of course! Or even higher!?
Even after climbing down from my sarcasm perch, I’m still left with a wonderment. i.e. given the every-post repetition of this ‘grandeur’ - what’s the point?
Thinking here of the (now quaint) notion of President Buchanan’s Senate as “The world’s greatest DELIBERATIVE body.”
As one of the Senator’s 1M Followers (not a fan), it’s delusional for me to view this relentless bombast as ‘deliberative’ in the sense of educational, thoughtful and nuanced.
But then it sure looks ‘deliberate’ - with the same habitually looping, hyperbolic firehose.
Maybe I’m still puzzling over what, or whose fire he’s after??
Oh, I was remiss in not pointing out that TDS seems inadequate to diagnose this Murphy’s Law Of Loquaciousness.
After all, homegrown and non-French, it’s not even officially codeable yet - as is DOG (“Delusions of Grandure”).
Still wondering …
