We welcome Dr. Eguiluz as new Associate Editor. Dr. Ibon Eguiluz is a Senior Clinical Researcher at the Allergy Department of Málaga Regional University Hospital and the Allergy Research Group at IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND (Spain), supported through the Andalusian Regional Government’s “Acción B para Clínicos-Investigadores” program. He obtained his MD from the University of Navarra and completed specialist training in Allergy at Hospital Clínico San Carlos (Madrid). He earned a PhD in Immunology from the University of Oslo following predoctoral research at the Centre for Immune Regulation and Oslo University Hospital, Norway. His research focuses on severe asthma, airway allergy, allergen immunotherapy, precision medicine, and the impact of environmental factors on respiratory health. He has completed research fellowships at Harvard Medical School (USA), Imperial College London (UK), and the Swiss Institute for Allergy and Asthma Research (Switzerland), collaborating with leading international experts in allergy and clinical immunology. Dr. Eguiluz leads a translational research program integrating clinical, immunological, and environmental approaches to improve the diagnosis and management of allergic and respiratory diseases. He is Principal Investigator of projects funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and previously by the Andalusian Regional Government. At the European level, he serves as the Spanish coordinator of the EU4Health Joint Action JARED, aimed at improving the prevention and management of chronic respiratory diseases across Europe, and leads work packages within both JARED and the Horizon Europe ClimAIr consortium, which investigates the effects of climate change and air pollution on respiratory health. He leads a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and research fellows, supervising doctoral training and mentoring early-career investigators. His work has resulted in 85 PubMed-indexed publications and has been recognized with several international awards, including the 2023 Research Award of the German Society for Allergology and Clinical Immunology.
