When @animationguild ended negotiations with the AMPTP for a #NewDeal4Animation there was 1 outstanding issue: Placement of the Color Designer job category in our contract. Those discussions will resume soon, and we need your help in a show of solidarity!

IATSE Local 839 @animationguild has reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. Gains for Color Designers will be detailed shortly on this account. We encourage members to plan to attend the General Membership meeting next Tuesday 5/31 for a throughout update on this agreement.

The New Deal Rally yesterday at IATSE was one of the most uplifting experiences I've been a part of since getting into this line of work. Such an incredible showing of solidarity in the demand for fair contracts!

Tbh very often the “someone” drawing in the rest of the line here is the Color Designer! *who is paid 14% less than a character/bg designer and not considered a “designer” lolol 💅🏼

ALL artists working in animation deserve to be paid a living wage, healthcare, benefits, etc.
IF THE STUDIO EXECS GET PAID AS MUCH AS THEY DO, THE ARTISTS MAKING THE ACTUAL ART DESERVE TO BE PAID FAIRLY FOR THEIR HARD WORK & EXPERIENCE. PERIOD.

Historically the color design craft has been dominated by women.
The wage gap between color and other designers is not a reflection of their labor's value, it's a gender pay-gap that's been codified into our contract.
