In the obscure C64 1986 vertical shooter TRAP by Tony Crowther (Alligata), if you reach the high score table and type DEMO as your name… the game completely transforms and launches a full-length, nearly 10-minute animated music demo!
This legendary "Space Gladiator" / "Space Movie" demo (also known as the Compunet promo version) features:
- Epic multi-minute soundtrack by legendary Ben Daglish (one of his absolute best)
- A muscle-bound gladiator drumming along in perfect sync with the music
- Animated space battle with flying saucers, explosions, and planets
- Smooth scrolling text and atmospheric visuals
Many consider this one of the earliest true "demos" on the C64 — basically a mini music video built into a game!
