And within hours of that car being offered, Rutendo Matinyarare was on a live stream delivering one message to Zimbabwe. Support General Chiwenga for president. Or there will be no peace. One: The Patriot Who Was Actually a Mercenary Before I go further I want to say something to Rutendo Matinyarare directly. Rutendo — I have called you uncle. I have respected your work. So I will be honest with you in the same spirit. You spent years presenting yourself to Zimbabwe as a patriot. A Pan-Africanist. A man fighting sanctions not for payment but for principle. For Zimbabwe. For the people. You made us believe you were acting from conscience. But your own letter — now public — tells a different story. You were operating under a paid mandate.
