Calling all five year olds! 🚨👇
Everyday, we’ll be releasing a new explainer for different age groups.
Today, we begin with:
‘Explain Blockless like I’m five’ 😇
Have you ever played with a remote-controlled car? Maybe you have one at home…
RC cars are a lot of fun. Using the controller, you become the driver. You can race with your friends in the park or in your garden - but be careful not to crash!
Your controller sends signals through the air to your car in order for it to work.
When you pull the controlstick left, the signals tell the car to turn left. When you pull the controlstick right, the signals tell the car to turn right. If you drive your car too far away though, the signals from your controller can’t reach it.
When this happens, you have to move closer to the car - once you've moved closer, you can drive again. Whoosh! The signals give your car what it needs to keep going.
Say you drive the car too far away one day, from your garden to your neighbor’s garden. That means you have to get closer. Your parents knock on their door, but nobody is home. Oh no! You'll have to come back another day.
You're not happy about that -- no signal, no racing. Your car has turned into a big lump of plastic.
But imagine if you didn't need to be close to the car. Imagine if your car could share signals with your friends' cars. All of your cars, working as a team, could power each other. That means that you could drive your car further, and help your friends at the same time.
That’s what Blockless have created with their online network. It’s not for RC cars, but the big computers and mobile phones that your parents use - allowing them to help each other and contribute instead of relying on their one device.
