#AmbassadorsCookOffZW, APRIL 4 ,2025.
The expressions of interest from Ambassadors accredited to Zimbabwe received so far have already surpassed last year’s number, and we’re expecting even more!
A huge thank you to those who have DM’d to express their interest.
At midday CAT today, Sunday 2 MARCH, we will reveal the dish you’ll be preparing for the 16 million Zimbabweans.
When we announce the dish, the T&Cs will be attached—please take note of them.
As a heads-up, the most critical rule is NOT to post the final presentation publicly. The final presentation must be sent via DM to
@TeamFuloZim ONLY.
That said, feel free to share videos and photos of the preparation stages—chopping, shopping for ingredients, etc.—publicly on your timelines. Just remember to use the hashtags #AmbassadorsCookoffChallenge, 2025 and #CookOffZW.

@joenjagu is a Zimbabwean film maker who has made leads in the creative-film industry. He has directed and produced many films that have won awards both regionally and internationally. He directed the film #Ngoda, produced #CookOffZim. His film Mirage won Zimbabwe's Best Film at the IFF in 2022. Some of the films he has directed include Something from London, Tete B, The Letter. One of his film The Gentleman, won the Best Foreign Language Director at the America International Film Festival and best film at the NAMAs in 2012.

We lost it in the 90s when all our acclaimed films were not commercial but funded. Most were around certain themes such as inheritance (Neria), sexual and reproductive health (Yellow Card/More Time) without a commercial intent. I think that was a missed opportunity

Great interview about the challenges, and opportunities, facing African cinema.
Having worked extensively on the finance/distribution side of @CookOffZim, I would fully agree with this.
The less fun/creative, more business bit of it all, but SO essential!

Netflix only has one Zimbabwean movie: Cook Off and we have no dedicated country channel on the streaming platform. Sad. To cheer you up, here is a bunch of Netflix Shows and Movies with Zimbabwean actors and crew.

I get extra excited seeing Kelis' star rising as I'm lucky enough to know her dad who is, like me, a co-producer of Cook Off @CookOffZim – Netflix's first acquisition from Zimbabwe...!

I love the mousehole this thread has gone down.
When we had the @CookOffZim premiere at a swanky London hotel, I spotted a mouse running around behind the bar. I filmed it and managed to get us lots of free drinks.
I will now have to set that video to an Eek-A-Mouse track.
