Hundreds of dead fish have been found floating in the historic Nanasaheb Peshwe Lake in Katraj, Pune, sparking severe health and environmental concerns. The mass fish deaths, suspected to be caused by untreated drainage water mixing with the lake and depleting oxygen levels, have led to a foul stench and increased mosquito breeding in the area. While citizens are finding it difficult to even walk near the popular tourist spot due to the unbearable smell, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials have stated that a cleanup operation is currently underway to remove the dead fish and restore the lake's condition.
