I was invited to inspect the near-completed new Huanggang Port Joint Inspection Building recently, getting first-hand updates on its final construction phase. Revamped with the Shenzhen Bay Port’s one-stop immigration and customs clearance model, the port will do away with the yellow shuttle bus for cross-border travel, slashing clearance time to under 5 minutes for a far more seamless experience. After clearing customs from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, travelers can directly connect to the Shenzhen Metro network, accessing all city districts with ease—this convenience matches that of Luohu, Liantang and Shenzhen Bay Ports, and is sure to be widely welcomed by cross-border residents on both sides.
The newly reconstructed Huanggang Port is designed to handle a daily passenger flow of around 200,000, with its capacity set to rise to 300,000 long-term upon the opening of the MTR Northern Link. I eagerly anticipate the early completion and commissioning of this key new infrastructure project, which will deliver greater efficiency and accessibility for Hong Kong and Shenzhen citizens travelling across the border, further boosting cross-border connectivity and daily convenience for all.
