Hahaha. First, look at my bio. 2nd, Winston & Strawn showed up in Lubbock with at least 4 attorneys and who knows how many paralegals. Combined, they would have spent 100s of billable hours meeting with Sorsby and witnesses; researching the law; drafting the petition, temporary injunction, supporting affidavits, and legal briefs; hearing prep; and the hearing itself. And that’s not counting the appeal nor the expenses. The fees for just that hearing will probably run be $500K-$750K. Who in the world would give up that kind of money for Sorsby? It’s not like Kessler needs it for marketing purposes: he’s represented Tom Brady in Deflategate, Latrell Sprewell after the choking incident, Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) after the Malice at the Palace, Plaxico Burress, Michael Vick, Adrian Peterson, and Ray Rice. 3rd, Sorsby should have lost at the hearing. Kessler knew that going in and there’s no way a guy like that with a history of winning high profile cases would risk taking the L for nothing.
