Related to (2) - there are sooo many subreddits that are more friendly / don't care about self-promotion. I feel like 99% of the people I see trying to use Reddit only post on like r/SideProject and then call it a day lol
Some examples of niche ones:
> r/homeautomation (5M): allowed if no affiliate links and project details included
> r/learnprogramming (4M): limited self-promo; first-time posters forbidden.
> r/games (3M): 10% self-promo rule
> r/languagelearning (3M): allowed with quality and flair > r/webdev (3M): 10% self-promo rule
> r/software (325k): Open-source promos on Wednesdays
> r/macbook (170K): No ~excessive~ self-promo
> r/notebooks (176k): Allowed in texts/comments
> r/iosprogramming (180k): 1 app post yearly
> r/geminiai (180k): limited for google AI-built tools with proper flair.
