#CLTairport has officially commissioned the North End Around Taxiway, which enhances connectivity between the west runway and the terminal ramp, boosting both safety and capacity. As a vital part of the Airport's expansion and modernization efforts, the taxiway minimizes aircraft crossings on Runway 18C-36C, enhancing airfield safety and operational efficiency. It also provides additional queuing space for arriving flights, streamlining traffic flow on the central runway. The project encompassed several enabling initiatives, such as relocating the Airport Overlook, rerouting a one-mile section of Old Dowd Road, permanently closing Marshall Drive and building a new access road next to the Long Term 1 parking lot. On this day in Dec. 2019, #CLTairport broke ground on the #DestinationCLT Terminal Lobby Expansion (TLE). In the last year, CLT has added several new baggage carousels, started construction on what will be Checkpoint 2, opened the overhead walkways connecting the Hourly Deck to the lobby, unveiled two new terrazzo installations, completed the glass canopy and opened all upper-level roadway lanes.

#CLTairport’s Fourth Parallel Runway project is well underway after breaking ground in June 2023. Grading will continue until mid-2026, with concrete paving set to start in 2025 and finish by early 2027. If you visit the #CLToverlook, you might catch a glimpse of the runway and taxiway construction in action. This project is part of the $4 billion #DestinationCLT program. On Dec. 10, 2019 #CLTairport broke ground for our #DestinationCLT Terminal Lobby Expansion. Fast forward four years and we have completed Queen Charlotte's Court with the Queen Charlotte statue unveiled, our first pre-security sit down restaurant, new baggage carousels and a new Checkpoint 1.
