I can confidently reccomend Re zero. One I think I might lowk just be biased on is Blue lock. And one which does def have character developement (but not the positive kind for anyone but Cina) would be Houseki no kuni. Although they would have to switch to manga after watching.

I cannot stat how important marketing is for a game. So by the definition since Cuphead needed help with this key part of the games developement.
It is by definition not independently funded because they needed help with marketing.

Yes dev costs itself were fully funded. HOWEVER!
Marketing is also a vital part of a games Developement. Many games fail because they have weak marketing campaigns. Cuphead would have been released but it would not have been a huge hit at all.
The Marketing made it successful.
