ธุรกิจสมุดหน้าเหลืองคนสมัยนี้รู้จักไหมนะ? 15 ปีกว่าก่อน ตอนสมัยลงทุนที่หุ้น US ใหม่ๆ ช่วงนั้น Internet พึ่งมา ก็คือพวกหุ้น Old media (old สมัยนี้) จะถูกกดราคาเทรดที่ P/E ต่ำมาก มีหุ้นตัวนึงทำสมุดหน้าเหลือง จำชื่อได้คือ SuperMedia เทรด PE3 เอง ( แต่มีหนี้เยอะ) ตอนนั้นก็สงสัยว่าตามตำราVI ก็ควรจะซื้อไหมนะ แต่ก็ ธุรกิจพวกนี้ เค้าเก็บเงิน SMEs เพื่อที่สมุดจะได้ลงชื่อกับเบอร์โทร SMEs พวกนี้ เพื่อที่ลูกค้าจะได้เปิดเจอ แต่ตอนนั้น Internet มาละ หน้าเหลืองที่ไทยก็ยังไม่มีคนใช้เลย แต่ บริษัทก็มีแผนมากมาย ที่จะย้ายมาออน์ไลน์ มีทำเว็บต่างๆนานา ฟังดูเหมือนจะน่าสนใจนะ แต่สุดท้ายงบออกหลายๆไตรมาส ก็เห็นความจริงว่ารายได้หายไปอย่างรวดเร็ว ปี 2012 SuperMedia ก็ควบรวมกับ DexOne ที่เป็นหน้าเหลืองเหมือนกัน ซึ่งก็ขาลงหนักๆทั้งคู่ รวมเป็นบริษัทใหม่ มีแจ้งแผนลดต้นทุนมหาศาลเลย มันก็ฟังดูเหมือนจะ Make Sense แต่จากนั้นไม่กี่ปี บริษัทก็ยื่นล้มละลายไป ปี 2017 กลุ่มบริษัทนี้รวมกับ YN ซึ่งเป็นสมุดหน้าเหลืองอีกราย ละปี 2019 ก็เข้าตลาดมาใหม่ชื่อ THRYV ทำธุรกิจ business directory เหมือนเดิม แต่เพิ่มคือมีขาย Software SaaS ด้วยให้ Small biz ใช้ ราคาก็ร่วงจาก ipo $70 กว่า มา $2.9 ละอนาคตไม่รู้จะรอดเหรือเปล่าเจอ AI disruption เต็มๆ เคสนี้เล่าบันทึกไว้ จะเห็นว่า ธุรกิจขาลง พลิกฟื้นยากจริงๆ มีหุ้น Old Media บางตัวที่กลับมาได้ พวก นสพ. NY Times แบบนี้ วันนี้ราคา All time high ได้เฉยเลย แต่ นสพ. US Today(Gannett) ยังไม่เจ๊ง แต่ก็ไม่ได้รุ่งเรืองเหมือนเดิมละ
