"Argument over piracy aside, it is outrageous what Pearson have done (or rather not done) since acquiring the African Writers Series, some 361 titles (by my count) containing a sizeable chunk of African literature history, of which only 60 or so titles are still in print, and much less available as ebooks. What happened to the re-launch in 2011, what happened to the full digitisation of the series by the Chadwyck-Healey Literature Collection in 2009, what happened with the Digitalback Book digital license agreement in 2018, what happened with the Abibiman Publishing and the James Currey Society in Oxford series relaunch in 2021? How can we let this gross mismanagement of our literary history stand?"
