#Commodity trading has a long history, with people exchanging goods for centuries. However, institutional traders with substantial capital have long dominated this market, sidelining retail investors. What if we could change that? Let's see Why #Tokenized Commodities Matter Today 👇 As commodity prices continue to rise, the process of bringing these assets to market has become increasingly complex. Most professional traders, acting on behalf of their clients or companies, can navigate the complex world of commodity trading. However, the end consumers, such as companies needing to purchase raw materials like copper, often face the challenges of rising prices and market inefficiencies. The derivatives built on top of these assets are also becoming increasingly expensive, making price discovery a daunting task. Tokenization in this case, offers a potential solution with a granular approach. Tokenized marketplaces can facilitate the trading of subtons or fractional units of commodities, providing greater liquidity and flexibility. It allows companies to buy exactly what they need, avoiding larger, more expensive contracts. Once digitized, these commodities can be integrated into production and supply processes. Ideally, they maintain the same quality and are backed by the real asset. As a result, commodities can become digital units representing the underlying asset in a trustworthy manner, providing the same value creation as in traditional marketplaces! Beyond that, they can mitigate counterparty risks! Smart contracts ensure that both parties comply with their obligations in peer-to-peer transactions! This is especially useful for companies conducting large block trades. They also enable these assets to be used as collateral in other DeFi protocols, allowing seamless transfer and exposure to traditional markets. Interesting, right?
