Digitilizing Matebeleland South Province. A few days ago, I shared the exciting news about the newly established computer lab at Mahetshe Primary School a powerful symbol of what is possible when we invest in our rural communities. That lab, however, was just one piece of a much bigger picture.Last week, as the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Zimbabwe, we completed an extensive digital rollout across Matabeleland South. I am deeply grateful to share the full scope of what has been achieved: 🔹 17 computer and ICT labs – established across all 7 districts and fully equipped 🔹 28 free WiFi hotspots – installed 🔹 6 Digital Centres – constructed from ground to finish and equipped 🔹 50 schools – connected to Starlink and fibre 🔹 34 health institutions – connected 🔹 42 government institutions – connected 🔹 21 police stations – connected 🔹 22 Chiefs' houses – connected 🔹 3 War Veterans' houses – connected 🔹 3 Agriculture Village Business Units – provided with WiFi hotspots 🔹 1,722 people – trained in digital skills programmes From learners at Mahetshe to nurses in rural clinics, from traditional leaders to our war veterans this is what inclusive, people centred digital transformation looks like.
