Amiodarone, quinidine, propafenone & verapamil can ↑ digoxin levels up to 100%. Check levels after 7–14 days (≥6 hrs post-dose). Therapeutic range: 0.7–1.2 ng/mL. Watch for ventricular arrhythmias, especially with hypokalemia or myocardial ischemia.

Digoxin becomes dangerous in hypokalemia because potassium and digoxin compete for the same binding site on the Na⁺/K⁺‑ATPase pump.

Digoxin is dangerous in hypokalemia because low potassium increases digoxin’s binding to the Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase pump, greatly enhancing its effects and raising the risk of toxicity.

Did you know that Digoxin can change the way you see the world??? Though Digoxin helps the heart pump more effectively in conditions like heart failure, when too much builds up in the body, it can affect the eyes and brain, causing blurred vision or making objects appear yellow, green, or unusually bright. This is often an early sign of digoxin toxicity.

D. Digoxin. Toxicity causes cardiac arrhythmias via Na⁺/K⁺-ATPase inhibition and characteristic visual disturbances (yellow-green vision, halos). Omeprazole, metformin, and cetirizine do not classically produce this combined cardiac–visual toxicity profile.
