A couple of points that we spoke about:
1) When a host gives you the mic 🎤 immediately mute yourself so people don’t feel like you are interrupting. Wait for the host to acknowledge you and ask you to speak OR in my spaces I ask speakers to raise their hand to let me know when they are ready to speak then I will call on them when we are ready.
EACH HOST is different 🦋 so listen to a conversation first to find out what the expectations are.
2) Do not send people that you do NOT know a DM (DirectMessage) without saying WHO you are and WHY you are contacting them. Many people will ignore or block DMs that merely say “hi”.
3) Instead of sending a DM at all it is best to interact via audio in a space AND/OR interact in replies on a persons posts so they get to recognize your name and what you are about.
Benefits of replying on public posts:
A) encourage creators that you respect to keep creating
B) let the person see you are interested in their content so you may develop a connection with them
C) when you reply on a post then MORE people will see YOUR words, they may like what you say and go look at YOUR profile. This is much better than a DM in many cases.
🌟 A DM is directed to only one person. Respect time of other people and interact publicly first before intruding on a persons DMs.
🌟 A GROUP DM chat includes many people is a private chat. It is private but all members in the chat can interact (notice how the admin runs the chat). Do not invite others into a group chat without asking the admin first.
🌟 a CHAT in the lower right corner of a space (IF it is available) is PUBLIC. Again, write in a way that others may see how you think and perhaps go check your profile.
