Wie Du weißt, bin ich erklärter Kritiker der „Umfagewissenschaft“. Wenn man beim Nachrechnen auf teils offensichtliche Fehler stößt, erhärtet sich bei mir der persönliche Eindruck, dass die Gutachter der Journals zu unkritisch ihre Augabe wahrnehmen. In diesem Fall ist das Design des DiscreteChoiceExperiments so schlecht, dass jedem auffallen sollte, dass ein „Confounding“ von zwei Effekten (Wasserfußabdruck x Land) vorliegt. In der betroffenen (erweiterten) Arbeitsgruppe ist es in letzter Zeit amüsant, die „Limitations“ zu lesen, weil sie die eigenen „Conclusions“ in Frage stellen.

Es ist der Glaube, mit Steuererhöhungen/-nachlass die Bürger erziehen zu können. ‚Glauben‘ heißt ‚für wahr halten‘. Niemand macht sich die Mühe, Preiselastizitäten empirisch zu schätzen. Diese Parameterschätzung ist leider in den letzten Jahren durch Umfragen/DiscreteChoiceExperiments ersetzt worden. Die so gefundene WillingnessToPay hat oft nichts mit realen Gegebenheiten zu tun. Zucker wird immer nur auf Ernährung bezogen, aber man sollte nicht außer Acht lassen, dass beispielsweise auch die Preise für Antibiotika, Impfstoffe oder Krebsmedikamente durch eine Zuckersteuer erhöht würden.
