That single word is going to cause arguments at the roadside so get ahead of it. The operator question: "If half the diary is optional now, how do I keep drivers consistent and out of trouble?" What changed: there's a new Alternative Compliance Hours option in the driver-hours box (solo and two-up). Marking the day of the week is now optional. Marking standard hours is now optional. Recording work-and-rest totals is now optional. The structure and flow are otherwise much the same, with minor editorial tidy-ups. And if a diary is lost or stolen and later found, drivers no longer have to return it to the NHVR though they must still cancel any unused sheets. Two things operators keep missing. One: the updated diaries roll out gradually from August 2026 as existing stock runs down and drivers can keep using their current diary until it's finished, including drivers moving onto ACH. Two — and this is the important one from 1 August the amended rules apply to all diaries, including the older stock that doesn't show the changes. On the roadside-fine worry: the NHVR has said an information sheet for drivers is coming, intended to help drivers show officers what the new rules are. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Set a house standard. Where a field is "optional" in law, decide whether it's optional in your business and brief drivers so everyone records the same way. I’m asking for help from someone at Uber leadership or a real decision-maker. I need someone at Uber to please review my case fairly and help me get back to work. Driving is not just an app for me — it’s my livelihood. I have invested a huge amount of money to work professionally and legally: - I purchased a new vehicle - I pay very expensive insurance every month - I obtained a Limousine Tag - I’ve been trying to build my work the right way and support my family I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars preparing myself to work in transportation professionally, and being unable to work on Uber has put me in a very difficult position financially and personally. I am not asking for special treatment. I am only asking for a fair, serious review by someone who can actually help.
