Cellular networks are under attack from Chinese hackers and commercial surveillance vendors.
Although the vulnerable SS7 protocol was replaced by a more secure Diameter protocol in 4g and 5G, operators have failed to implement it or failed to implement it properly.
As a result, our cellular systems are vulnerable to attack from some less than advanced attackers.
This includes DoS, eavesdropping, and location services.
