According to @usedgov data: ~1/3 of kids (mis)labeled 'disabled' under IDEA have a 'specific learning disability'—and study after study shows ~85% of those are reading-based (i.e., dyslexia). So yeah, what we're really talking about is a system too lazy and ableist to teach reading properly, so it slaps a disability label on the fallout, without any care or careful consideration for the children, families, communities, or societal impact. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Reform EdPrep, and revise & reauthorize the federal IDEA… OR Shut. It. All. Down., and fund STUDENTS—not corrupt, ignorant, and ableist systems, politicians, bureaucrats, educrats, teachers’ unions, etc.

In late February, educator preparation leaders from across the nation gathered at the @AACTE annual conference to share the innovations shaping the future of teaching.
