On 15 June 2026, H.E. Ambassador Swahiba H. Mndeme met with representatives from the University of Dar es Salaam, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University to explore opportunities for strengthening educational and research cooperation between Tanzania and Sweden.
The delegation included Prof. Noah Makula Pauline and Dr. Richard Joseph Kimwaga from the University of Dar es Salaam; Prof. Prosun Bhattacharya and Ms. Erika Svensson Rössner from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Through the SIDA-funded SUWASAN programme, these Academic are jointly supervising PhD students from Tanzania at Stockholm University and advancing North–South collaboration in teaching, research, and innovation.
The Meeting highlighted the important role of Embassies in facilitating international educational cooperation by connecting institutions, supporting academic partnerships, promoting scholarship and exchange opportunities, assisting students pursuing higher education abroad, disseminating information on scholarships and funding opportunities, and advocating for policies that strengthen international educational cooperation.
During the same engagement, Ambassador Mndeme welcomed Mr. Abdulkarim Magomelo, a recent Master's graduate from Linnaeus University, who shared his experiences studying in Sweden and discussed opportunities for Tanzanian students seeking higher education abroad.
Ambassador Mndeme reiterated the Embassy’s commitment to supporting academic cooperation and creating pathways that enable Tanzanian students, researchers, and institutions to benefit from international partnerships.
