Most of the rockstar studios are outside the UK now. Their HQ is in the US. The UK was getting big as a location for exdev because we have a lot of talent and salaries are way lower than in the states. But because the post covid boom has gone exdev is one of the first things to get cut back, leading to mass layoffs

Can't just blame Rust, as this shows knowledge loss and failure to think through the cross-device case.
I used to work on SGI Irix before it was renamed Irix, 40 years ago. I implemented atomic-within-same-filesystem rename(2). Cross-device needs temp file rename on target fs.

No, device meaning mounted filesystem (fs) does not afford atomic rename(2), if different devices then EXDEV.
Same fs does not need any user-code; rename as pioneered in BSD Unix, which I implemented afresh in SGI Unix handles atomicity in-syscall via same-fs mutual exclusion.

【2日間のトラブルシューティング記録】
Claude Desktop を M.2 ドライブにインストール時の EXDEV エラー対応
RTX 3080 32GB RAM の環境で、ローカル AI ワークスペース（Cowork）構築を試みたが、
Cowork 起動時に「EXDEV: cross-device link not permitted」エラーが発生。
✅ 解決できたこと：
- Claude Desktop 自体は M.2 から起動成功
- AppData を M.2 に完全配置
- 環境変数設定（APPDATA → M.2 パス）
- Windows AppData フォルダのアクセス権限修正
- C: ドライブの Claude 関連を完全削除
❌ 未解決：
- Windows システムレベルで C: ドライブを参照しようとする
- 自力解決不可と判定
- Anthropic サポートに報告済み

Eu fui correndo no EXIF pra ver se usava o que prega aos clientes, sendo uma exdev quis participar.
Enquanto o cara pregava para usarem versões pagas/high usava noprice/lowprice para seu próprio conteúdo...
Já conheço isso, no final de tudo ia meter uma hub pros "não" alunos..

Dude this is very clearly coming from someone who isn't an artist and that doesn't appreciate the artists themselves.
What do you mean "looks amazing"? It literally removes the artist from the equation and make everything look the same. This is a shitty view from an exdev.
