#sapsFS Police welcome the sentencing of a 44-year-old female educator who failed to report a statutory rape case involving a minor. The case was registered at Navalsig Police Station on 15 March 2022, after the 11-year-old victim alleged she was raped in December 2021 while visiting her paternal grandfather. Investigations by Detective Warrant Officer Arlene Snyman of the Parkweg #FCSUnit revealed the accused knew her 15-year-old son had allegedly raped the victim but failed to report the matter. Instead, she took the victim to a pharmacy to buy “morning-after” pills. The accused was arrested on 31 August 2022 and found guilty by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court. #sapsFS The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the #SAPS in Free State, Maj Gen Apathia Modise, welcomed the double life sentence achieved by the #FCSUnit in Odendaalsrus Regional Court, Lejweleputswa District. Warrant Officer Jessica Saayman completed the investigation of two separate rape cases. The first incident happened on 25 December 2021, when the accused entered the 67-year-old victim’s home, slipped into her bed while she was asleep, undressed her, and raped her. The second offence was committed when the 70-year-old victim welcomed the same accused into her home because she had seen him before when he visited her daughter. The accused attacked the victim, forcefully undressed her, and sexually violated her. On 11/02, in Odendaalsrus Regional Court, Warrant Officer Jessica Saayman of FCS, together with Mr Magangeni Baloyi of the NPA, concluded presenting the two rape cases. Presiding Judicial Officer, Magistrate Nompumelelo Gusha, handed Jabulani Stanley Mahlanyane (41) two separate life sentences: one for the rape of the 67-year-old victim on 25 December 2021, and one for sexually violating the 70-year-old victim on 17 September 2022. #sentencing #EndGBVF SG

#sapsFS The Phuthaditjhaba #FCSUnit is investigating a case of suspected child trafficking after a 21-year-old woman was arrested at Setsing Complex. Police became suspicious when an infant in her care cried uncontrollably while she was in detention. The woman gave conflicting explanations about the child’s parents, and it was later confirmed that the alleged father is not the biological parent. The infant was removed and placed in a place of safety. #sapsFC A swift conviction was secured in the Bloemfontein High Court following a house robbery and rape case meticulously investigated by the Mangaung #FCSUnit. In Feb 2022, a 28-year-old woman in Khayelitsha was attacked by an armed masked intruder who threatened and raped her before fleeing. W/O Shadrack Booi’s investigation led to the arrest of 28-year-old Thabo Khang, who was also found to be an illegal foreign national. Khang was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and 6 months for contravening the Immigration Act. #sapsNW The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Dintletse Molefe, welcomes two life terms handed down by the Potchefstroom Regional Court to 40-year-old rape accused, Elias Tsetla on 23/09. The convict was sentenced for raping his girlfriend in January 2023, at Ikageng Location, Potchefstroom. Consequent to registration of the case that was investigated by the Potchefstroom #FCSUnit, the accused was arrested three days later. After failing to prove his legal status in the country, Tsetla, who is from Lesotho, was further charged with contravention of the Immigration Act, 2002. #sapsFS [DAY 2] Mangaung Metro District JOINTS Youth and Social Responsibility Committee at Jimmy Roos Spec School, received a boost with a visit by Ms Qwelane, Director at Department of Education. Ms Qwelane facilitated 'behavioural change' to the boys. Captain Pietersen from #FCSUnit educated the learners on Sexual Offenders Register and child pornography. He differentiated between three offenses which constitute child pornography, namely: production, distribution and possession of pornographic materials. The learners were given anxiety exercises that can also help during examination period. The Co-chairperson of Youth and Social Responsibility Committee, Colonel Francis concluded the proceedings by facilitating the National Schools Safety Framework. #SaferSchools
