🌱⚖️ The Scales of Life ⚖️🌱 This morning I was working in the garden, clearing out weeds. Some weeds came out easily. A simple pull and they were gone. Others were different. I pulled and pulled, but they wouldn't move. Their roots had grown deep into the soil. As I stood there, another picture came to mind — a scale. Like the old balancing scales with a tray on each side. When both sides carry the right weight, the scale remains balanced. But when too much weight is placed on one side, everything tilts. And isn't that exactly how many of us live? Some days the things we struggle with seem impossible. Getting out of bed feels difficult. Praying feels difficult. Forgiving someone feels difficult. Studying feels difficult. Serving God feels difficult. Yet sometimes the very next day, those same things suddenly feel easier. Why? Maybe the task didn't change. Maybe the circumstances didn't change. Maybe what changed was the balance. Sometimes we place so much weight on one side of our lives that everything becomes harder. Fear. Stress. Worry. Overthinking. Disappointment. Past hurts. Unanswered questions. When these things begin piling up, the scales become unbalanced. And when our lives become unbalanced, even the simplest things start feeling heavy. Just as weeds grow when a garden is neglected, certain things begin growing in our hearts when our spiritual balance is lost. Fear grows. Doubt grows. Bitterness grows. Anxiety grows. And the deeper those roots grow, the harder they become to remove. Not because God has moved away. Not because we are weak. But because we have allowed things to remain in the soil longer than they should have. The answer is not adding more pressure. The answer is restoring balance. Placing the right things back where they belong. Prayer. The Word of God. Worship. Trust. Time with Jesus. Rest. Gratitude. Fellowship. The more we place our focus on God, the more stable our lives become. Matthew 11:28 says: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Jesus never said life would have no weight. He simply said we were never meant to carry it alone. So today, maybe the reason something feels impossible isn't because you're incapable. Maybe the scales have become unbalanced. Maybe there are weeds that have been allowed to grow roots for too long. Maybe God is asking you today: "What have you been carrying that I never asked you to carry?" "What weeds need to be removed?" "What needs to be placed back into My hands?" Because when God restores balance, things that once felt impossible suddenly become possible. And sometimes the greatest miracle isn't that the task changed. The Calling of Isaiah — when God Purifies Before He Sends Isaiah 6:6–7 — “Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal… and he touched my mouth with it, and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.’” In Isaiah 6, we are drawn into one of the most overwhelming encounters in Scripture — a moment where heaven invades earth, and a man comes face to face with the holiness of God. Isaiah sees the Lord high and lifted up, His glory filling the temple, and immediately he becomes aware of something deep and undeniable: his own unworthiness. He cries out, “Woe is me, for I am undone!” This is the response of anyone who truly encounters God — not pride, not self-confidence, but humility and conviction. In the presence of perfect holiness, every hidden flaw is exposed. Isaiah doesn’t compare himself to others; he sees himself in the light of God’s glory. But here is the turning point — God does not leave him in that state. A seraphim takes a burning coal from the altar and brings it to Isaiah’s lips. This is not an act of destruction, but of purification. The fire represents God’s holiness — a fire that does not consume him, but cleanses him. His sin is not ignored; it is dealt with. His guilt is not covered up; it is removed. This moment reveals a powerful truth: before God uses a person, He purifies them. Many want to be called, to be seen, to be used greatly — but few are willing to go through the fire of cleansing. God is not looking for perfection; He is looking for surrender. The same lips that confessed unworthiness are the ones God touches and makes clean. And immediately after this cleansing, the voice of the Lord is heard: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Now Isaiah can respond — not from guilt, not from fear, but from a place of transformation: “Here am I! Send me.” This is the pattern of God: revelation, conviction, purification, then calling. You cannot skip the process. The fire you fear may be the very thing that prepares you. The conviction you feel is not rejection — it is an invitation. God does not expose to shame you; He reveals to restore you. Today, God is still calling people. Not the perfect, not the flawless — but the willing. Those who will allow Him to cleanse their hearts, refine their character, and set them apart. The question is not whether God is calling — He is. Apostle Eric vonAnderseck • @ApostleEric In PART 1 of his 2-part series, Apostle Paul Odendaal speaks about the restoration of God’s apostolic stewardship and character and what that means for you. 👉A lot changes when God restores your understanding to the ONE scale that He uses to judge your faith as righteous and for Him to work in you those things of His divine nature. When ministers teach by their own nature they use two scales – one weighs the good, the other weighs what is bad. And they teach you how to use these scales to establish that a struggle exists with your convictions. On the one hand, you could point out your spouse’s faults and offenses and hold onto a grudge, but on the other hand, you could forgive them. These two scales are used to experience a STRUGGLE and the STRUGGLE gives the minister a sense of confidence that he has done a good thing and that God is refining his character (which is FALSE regeneration). Jesus would say, If I don’t see you in the transgression, you CAN’T SEE ME in your struggle with your transgressions. There is no way for you to see Me unless I give you the knowledge of the covenant as eyes to see Me. 💡DID YOU KNOW: God is not defining our struggles in this life in order to teach us how He “refines our character”. This type of ministry to the flesh is not God’s work. Everything may sound right to you about the struggle, so how can it be wrong?
