Deep bedding methods and bokashi application is the the real Biological farmhack. Reducing both unwanted bacterial smells And massively reducing labor inputs while providing several bonuses. Always harvesting “Ecological services,” - 💚
I way 💚💪🤟 Bokashi! Bokashi, A Japanese anaerobic #composting method derived from a culturing of micro organisms, principally via separate rice & milk fermentations combined then fed molasses. Similar to commercially available “EM” [“Effective Micro Organisms] “Bokashi” is often in the form of liquid concentrate(largely lactobacillus) or this concentrate dried on bran. These innoculants are then used to expedite decomposition and outcompete undesirable micro organisms in a low Oxygen anaerobic environment. #AlwaysHarvesting, - 💚 P.S. I’ll soon return to this subject in long form with production process and uses. “Clean” by replacing bad bacteria with good bacteria. “Pickle” Kitchen wastes into soil. Pet odors go poof. Skunk stank saunters away. Manure magically melts into soil! Smells from anaerobic and carbon deficient animal bedding decomposed. A safe and even a lovely oral rinse, Bokashi is magic through biology!

* Cosmo-Localism as an exit strategy ? Or Beyond Exit ? parallelcitizen.xyz/p/exit-i… Parallel Citizen: "One framework worth mentioning here is cosmo-localism: the principle of "design global, manufacture local." Coined by researcher Wolfgang Sachs and developed further by researchers like Michel Bauwens, cosmo-localism argues that knowledge and design should flow freely across borders (the cosmo part) while physical production stays rooted in local communities using local materials and labor (the local part). Think open-source hardware plans shared globally but fabricated in neighborhood makerspaces, or regenerative agriculture protocols developed collaboratively online and implemented by regional cooperatives. It's the hands vote scaled through networks: building locally while coordinating globally, without requiring permission from centralized supply chains or multinational gatekeepers. Early experiments include FarmHack (open-source farm tools), WikiHouse (open-source housing kits), and the broader Open Source Ecology project, which is developing a set of fifty industrial machines that can be built from scratch for a fraction of commercial cost."

Rain hit. Hay wouldn’t dry. So I used my brush hog like a tedder. And it WORKED. Then came up with a genius way to unload loose hay without a pitchfork. 📺 Watch: youtube.com/watch?v=gY8Y4suC… #FarmHack #Homesteading #HayHarvest #AppalachianFarmstead #DIYFarming

#FarmHack : New research from Clemson University shows that natural feed additives such as black cumin, kefir and bacteriophages are effective alternatives to poultry antibiotics. With good science and easy to get tools, we can now raise chickens without antibiotics

My farmhack was the Landy, then the Morris Oxford in the paddock then I graduated to the HQ on SH2. No license, no seatbelts. The pub was 8 kms away. I had the best driving instructor. They taught us early so we could become taxi drivers 🤣
