Tile only removes excess water. Plant available water does not change. Water table (saturated soil) lower, but roots don't grow in saturated soil. Roots do not need grow deeper.

Actually hard (impossible?) to "overdrain" a field. Tile removes excess water only. Main concern potential increased macropore flow, a concern for water quality.
