Ok so I’m a day late on this but I’m doing #FastDraftFeb to up the words on my WIP and I’ll use this as my accountability thread! Goal for the month is 17k 🪾

Gonna start #FastDraftFeb (my wee personal accountability challenge for one of the shorter and less social-event-filled months of the year for me) this weekend, which means I should probably get some new graphics ready to share... ✨

I'm gearing up to do #FastDraftFeb again next month as I found it a really fun way of holding myself accountable to write regularly while also keeping the zero draft, it doesn't have to be perfect mentality - anyone want to join me?

I did it, guys. Just 8 days past my two month mark, and my first draft is officially done. 🥂🥂🥂 Story time: When I was rewriting Violet Sins (my adult romantasy) for #FastDraftFeb, on a particularly rough day, I got all in my head about how long it was taking and how the hell Rebecca Yarros had so many details and places and great things in Fourth Wing and I couldn't even get this stupid urban romantasy right. I convinced myself it must have taken her like at least a year. Well, imagine my surprise when I found out plotting to finished draft was 4.5 months. Right then, a spite-induced goal was born. I decided if she could do it, then SO COULD I (it's insane, I realize that, thank you). So, I started this high fantasy at the beginning of April for #Writeoberspringfest and set myself the insane goal of finishing it in two months. Life and editing down my contemporary romance got in the way, but still, I trucked on. I was DETERMINED to make it happen. Except when we hit June 1st and I was short of my goal, I felt defeated, my will to finish doused by my failure. I forced myself to keep going. 500 words here, 1000 words there, and here I stand today, 93,698 words later, and we've finally reached "The End." Or rather...to be contiued...😭

I haven’t gotten my email yet. Honestly, I’m not surprised tho & I’ve been waiting for this since their AI dumpster fire statement. I’m sad for a lot of reasons. At least we still have challenges like #WriteToberSpringFest, #FastDraftFeb, & #FirstDraftFall to foster community.

I tanked fastdraftfeb, didn't even start anything in March, now I can feel guilty for not writing enough in April 😂

In one way #fastdraftfeb worked. I got over my block and passed the 30k mark. But in another, more real way, it didn't work, and it's exhausting trying to do all the things.

Turns out all I needed for #fastdraftfeb was March. 18,500 words into #conwitchwip

🥳Final Week Update🥳 I was sick and missed 5 days of writing, so sadly I didn't meet my FastDraftFeb goal :( Words written: 3389 % completion: 88% Final word count: 26,385 / 30,000 WIP total word count: 71k ! What's the March goal-set trend?! This book is getting FINISHED!!!

Totally failed at #FastDraftFeb cause of life circumstances. Hopefully this month will be different for me. Maybe I should start a #ManuscriptMarch where the goal is to finish drafting or revising your entire manuscript!

I wholeheartedly forgot to post my #FastDraftFeb update yesterday, because this flu/cold combo is currently kicking my ass 🤧 Anyway I managed to finish at a little under 30k!! Which means I have roughly the 2nd half left—but I have an outline so it’ll hopefully go faster!!

How did #fastdraftfeb go? ORIGINAL STATUS: 50K GOAL: 65K FINAL WORD COUNT: 70K I added 20K words to my book this month (1,100 yesterday!), which is huge since I've been struggling to write consistently since October! NEW GOAL: Finish by May 1st #amwriting #WritingCommmunity

#FastDraftFeb is over! While I didn't finish all of the revisions on my spooky MG, I was still able to complete 75%, including rewriting a couple of scenes. I'm ready to tackle the last 25% this month 💪 #amrevising #writingcommunity #writerslife

the last 2k may be shit, it may be technically 12:45 am on march 1st, but i finished #FastDraftFeb 10k past my goal while doing countless job interviews, beta reading, and parenting a toddler. go me. ✨🍻🥀
