I suggest you may be off the mark here .. these policies are most likely being designed by young SpAds and FastStreamers within Whitehall with the sole intention of targeting and nullifying the voices of anyone on the right and they couldn’t care less about youth culture !

2) More ministers should be drawn from those with experience as mayors or council leaders. Faststreamers could benefit from a year at the frontline. Nobody should become a senior civil servant without experience in a delivery role outside Whitehall.

Successive recruitment freezes meant the only intake for a while, really, has been faststreamers. And they all tend to be from the same universities. Great blog, interesting points. The key is not just being diverse but listening to diverse voices.

When I was working at GDS in 2018,a colleague supporting DExEU told me he'd seen faststreamers there watching YouTube videos on negotiation before heading over to Brussels. No surprise they were outmanoeuvred.

I agree - 2-3yre feels right. Challenge is to strike balance between moves and experience, I am hearing of cases of people averaging just 6 months in some roles (not Faststreamers either!)
