Today we commemorate the #Februarystrike,a response to a raid in the Amsterdam Jewish Quarter.The only resistance in Europe.
Of 389 Jewish men deported to Buchenwald & Mauthausen,2 survived.The strike was organized by Communists.
Now extreme rightists unashamedly attend the event

Every year, the Dutch commemorate the #Februaristaking (“The #FebruaryStrike”), and today marks its 80th anniversary. On Feb. 25, 1941, an estimated 300,000 people joined in a strike in defense of persecuted Dutch Jews and against the anti-Jewish measures of the Nazis. #WWII

Today, we start in 1951 with the sculpture of the Dockworker by artist Mari Andriessen. He was asked to create a sculpture commemorating the #FebruaryStrike. The courageous dockworker serves as a symbol for all the men and women who participated in the strike. #passonfreedom

Today and tomorrow we remember the #Februarystrike of 1941 in the Netherlands, the only massive and open resistance to the persecution of Jews in Europe. The dot map was compiled by the German occupier in Amsterdam. Each dot represents 10 Jews, in total 80.000 hunted victims
