If you are South African you will know that when the government refuses to listen to the people they strike, burn down buildings etc. And this is the only way the SA gov hears its people, so there’s nothing new here. How violent was feesmustfall??

[VIDEO] As South Africa marks 50 years since the 16 June 1976 Soweto Uprising, UCT reflects on the enduring legacy of student activism and its role in shaping transformation, justice and belonging in higher education. This documentary pays homage to the young people who challenged the apartheid government half a century ago, examining the unfinished work of transformation and asking what it means to build a truly inclusive university. Featuring reflections from UCT’s deputy vice-chancellor for People, Culture and Society, Prof Elelwani Ramugondo, alongside student activists Masixole Mlandu and Luhlanganiso Gcaleka, the film explores how the struggles of the past continue to shape a new generation’s pursuit of justice, equity and belonging. From the anti-apartheid student movements of the 1960s and 1970s to #RhodesMustFall, #FeesMustFall and #Shackville, student activism has repeatedly challenged exclusion, demanded accountability and forced difficult questions about the purpose of universities in a democratic South Africa. Comparing us to Germany & China is very nice. There's also Japan, South Korea, France etc. You must know something about economics ? But name one single person who benefitted from FeesMustFall. One person

Yea he can chill plus he’s a student. The system failing him is not unique to him though. It’s failing SAs too, that’s why protests like FeesMustFall happened

I got to UCT in 2016. It was the year after the RhodesMustFall and FeesMustFall protests had properly gained momentum. As a fresher, I had no idea what I was walking into. However, one of the first communities that opened its arms to me was that of the Fallists.

#FeesMustFall was something else. Remember when Vuyani Pambo wanted SG Gwede Mantashe to sit down at Luthuli House, just like they did to Habib? Meanwhile, Mcebo Dlamini was silent as a member of the ANC.
