Looking Ahead: Advancing
#PDBs as a Unified System 🌍
✅ This was one of the points highlighted by
@MBordlaurans, who represented
@FinanceInCommon and
@AFD_France at the FiCS Lab event organized by
@climatepolicy and
@the_IDB at @COP16Colombia .
🔍 As we look toward the future, we want to emphasize that FiCS will continue to promote the importance of making all Public Development Banks operate as a cohesive system, especially in the context of the
#FfD4 conference in Seville, Spain, in 2025.
➡ This is crucial for maximizing our impact on scaling up sustainable development and climate financing.
If we were to summarize this side event in four key moments:
1️⃣ Discussions were held on how hashtag#PDBs could leverage innovative financial solutions to meet
#climatefinance goals with Nicole Pinko,
@MBordlaurans , Avinash Persaud, Stephen O’Driscoll
@EIB , Clemente Del valle and Mookho Mathaba from
@DBSA_Bank
2️⃣ Insights were shared by PDB representatives on the importance of coordination to accelerate climate finance in EMDEs.
3️⃣ The launch of the FiCS Lab incubator took place, providing details on eligibility, criteria, and application guidelines for the call for proposals.

4️⃣ Key takeaways and next steps for collaboration and innovation were discussed.
During this event,
@MBordlaurans shared some key actions that we need to implement to achieve this, such as ⬇
🔗 Reframing PDBs
We need to reframe all PDBs as part of a unified system. This will extend current reforms of
#MDBs and enhance efficiency across the entire PDB ecosystem. By working as a cohesive ‘whole-of-PDBs’ system, we can establish a clear division of labor within the Finance in Common framework, allowing each institution to leverage its unique strengths more effectively.
💡 Channeling Resources Effectively
A better channelling of resources is essential to meet national development needs.
🤝 Fostering Collaboration
We must also foster collaboration through shared standards and mutual reliance. A FiCS-wide platform for mutualized issuance could help smaller PDBs access finance through the credibility and balance sheets of larger multilateral platforms.
📅 FiCS 2025 Summit
We invite you to mark your calendars for the FiCS 2025 Summit, taking place from February 26 to 28 in Cape Town, South Africa.
