Charlotte Fire Responds to Multi-Alarm Fire at South Tryon Street Storage Facility This afternoon, Charlotte Fire responded to a significant fire at a storage facility located in the 9400 block of South Tryon Street. At approximately 3:48 PM, Charlotte Fire began receiving multiple calls reporting heavy smoke and flames at the facility. Engine 26 arrived on scene at 3:50 PM and confirmed a working fire with heavy flames showing from the roof of the storage unit complex. Upon assessment of the rapidly spreading fire, the Incident Commander called for a second alarm at 4:00 PM, bringing additional personnel and resources to the scene. By 4:20 PM, a third alarm was called as firefighters worked to contain heavy fire involvement across multiple storage units. Approximately 90 firefighters, including personnel from the Steele Creek Fire Department, worked tirelessly to battle the blaze. The fire was declared under control at 4:41 PM. Several storage units were impacted, and investigators are working to determine the exact number of units affected. Remarkably, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Charlotte Fire investigators. Charlotte Fire would like to extend its gratitude to the Steele Creek Fire Department for their assistance and to all responding crews for their professionalism and dedication to the safety of the community.
