The Burnaby Fire Fighters raised an incredible $42,455 at their #FillTheBoot event this past November! With this remarkable contribution, their lifetime support for Canadians living with neuromuscular disorders has now surpassed $1.25 million. This June, we had the opportunity to thank their team and celebrate their extraordinary impact. We were honoured to have Bill Grindlay, a longtime advocate, volunteer, and retired Burnaby Fire Fighter, present an award of appreciation recognizing decades of dedication, fundraising, and community leadership. Bill played a pivotal role in the success of Burnaby’s #FillTheBoot events, helping build a legacy of generosity and service that continues to make a difference today. His commitment, alongside that of the Burnaby Fire Fighters, has inspired hope and support for countless individuals and families in the neuromuscular community. We are deeply grateful to the Burnaby Fire Fighters and the supportive community that stands behind them. Thank you for your continued passion, dedication, and commitment to making a difference.

Across Canada, Fire Fighters have been part of the neuromuscular community for generations. Since 1954, you’ve shown up in ways that go far beyond your role. From organizing #FillTheBoot drives to hosting stair climbs, truck pulls, and pancake breakfasts, you bring your communities together to support our mission and help break down barriers for Canadians affected by neuromuscular disorders. Through your efforts, you continue to raise critical funds that: 🧬help fund research 🦼provide life-changing equipment ✅connect individuals and families to the programs and services they rely on ✅lead policy change Because of you, Canadians can access the support they need, when they need it. People can navigate their diagnosis with more certainty. And individuals living with neuromuscular disorders can move through life with greater independence and dignity. For our community, your support goes beyond fundraising. It’s the reassurance of knowing that, year after year, you continue to show up. That consistency means more than words can fully express. On #InternationalFireFightersDay, we thank our Fire Fighter partners who continue to support the neuromuscular community and help #BreakDownBarriers. @IAFFCanada

A huge thank you to the Chetwynd Fire Department for their continued support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Over a weekend in March, CFD members dedicated their time at the Chetwynd Trade Show, hosting a #FillTheBoot drive in support of the Canadian neuromuscular community and raising an incredible $509! This effort marks another milestone in their long-standing commitment. The Chetwynd Fire Department has now raised over $130,000 to date in support of individuals and families affected by neuromuscular disorders. Pictured in the photos are Fire Fighter Goodman, Fire Fighter McClarty, and Fire Fighter Hammond, whose efforts helped make this event a success. Thank you to the entire CFD team and the Chetwynd community for your generosity, time, and dedication to our mission.
