The cardinal and the fox on the road looked way better than the animals in the bedeoom, so I could buy this was an intentional choice. Whether it was a good choice is still debateable. They did look like shit.

I personally think most of the criticisms are valid, but I also think it's still better than 70% of the almost 80 movies I've seen in theaters and at festivals this year so far. It's midtier Spielberg, which means it's still better than the average movie.

Yeah just saying it’s one side over the other is asinine and naive when both sides can and have been extremely annoying with certain movies. It takes two to tango.

He is one of those filmmakers where the condescending elite will absolutely come for you if you have anything negative to say about it, which is wild because I thought we all agreed Crystal Skull was awful and that he occasionally makes bad movies

The Barrier is less likely, just because it’s still in development (script). But I put the whole list under the OP. :)

It's a better conversation piece than an entertainment so make it a good one...

I honestly feel like all the critics who love Disclosure Day are being WAY WAY more weird about anyone with criticisms than the people who don't like it just being upset by it. Discourse is always crazy about every new movie every week but Spielberg has started a riot. Ha. 👽🙃
I find it interesting that the people who defend Disclosure Day attack the viewers. Those who hate DD simply point out the many flaws in the movie’s story-telling, pacing, SFX, and characters.

Alex, yesterday I was called the f-slur for defending Disclosure Day. I get that online discourse brings out the worst people in any debate, but I think it's reductive to act like this is on one side or the other. This is just how toxic Twitter is as a platform.

Was it an homage to Gladiator II perhaps?

That’s the thing. I don’t hate this movie but it will stick in my mind more and bug me more because it was so close to being something special imo. Whereas something like Whistle, I’m just like yeah that wasn’t for me and move on.

I appreciate that you said "many of us" as opposed to "all of us."

What ever could you be talking about it? 😂 This defense of the shitty CGI animals had me rolling.

Indeed. On a 5☆ scale it should be 2.25 at the highest.
